Tag Archives: My hubs rocks

5 Years

5 years ago today, hubs and I went on our very first date. I remember it like it was yesterday…

He picked me up from my apartment looking all handsome. We were heading to dinner at P.F. Changs so we could devour some lettuce wraps. The sound of UB-40 and ‘I’ve got you babe’ was in the background. Perfection.

We ate an amazing meal and talked for hours. Best first date ever. As we walked back to the car, he even opened the car door for me! What guy does that these days?! My hubs, that is who. From that day forward he has continued to open my door for me every day.

On the drive home we were both belting out ‘Hotel California’ by the Eagles. He dropped me off and gave me a kiss on the cheek. He was such a gentleman. I seriously could not stop smiling. Now, 5 years later, he continues to make me smile every day.

Thanks for being amazing hubs. I love you!

I’m Old!!!

It’s my birthday, it’s my birthday!! I’m another year older and (hopefully) another year wiser! 🙂 24 years young baby!

Gosh, that sounds so young! Haha

Hubs has already made this a super special birthday for me! 🙂 It’s my first one celebrating away from family so he wanted to make it a great birthday. I had to go into work extra early (don’t they know it’s my birthday?!?!) so hubs woke up when I did!! He made me a delish cup of coffee and had me open one gift. He got me the cutest watch ever!!

What a nice boy!

One of the benefits of getting to work early is that I get to leave nice and early too! I plan on going home and getting a nice relaxing run in! Ahh that sounds so fab right now!

Hubs is cooking a steak dinner for us tonight. He is THE BEST at cooking steak in our cast iron skillet. So ridiculously delicious! I can’t wait!

Let’s hope I can focus enough to get at least a little bit of work done!

Birthday Success Part 2

Last nights workout:
1 mile on the bike before hubs hopped on to use it. 4 min with resistance at 5
Ran 2 miles in 20:50 (10:25 average).
Plank A Day

Last nights workout made me realize one thing. Running works COMPLETELY different muscles than biking. Damn, that 1 little mile was HARD! Pathetic, I know. I definitely need to ride more often. It worked my quads like alcohol and drugs worked Amy Winehouse. Too soon?

Back to the birthday festivities…

Saturday night, I made reservations at our FAVORITE restaurant… Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse! Let me just say this… not all Ruth’s are created equal. We go to Ruth’s in every vacation spot we travel to that has one. So far, the one in downtown San Diego is THE BEST. Vegas, not so much. The good news is that the one in downtown Seattle is a VERY close second. All it is missing is a view of the water.

I was a bad blogger and did not take any pictures at dinner. Shame on me, I know.

I love how they decorate the table with confetti for birthdays. The only thing that I have seen that is cooler is at Morton’s Steakhouse. They actually printed up menus that said “Happy Birthday Hubs” on it. Well, it didn’t say Hubs, it said his real name but you get the idea. Very nice touch.

After all the alcohol the night before, neither of us could stomach any at Ruth’s. It was kind of sad because their Pear Twist Martini is life changing. Seriously. If you haven’t had one, picture this:
butterflies and rainbows and unicorns

After dinner, we were going to see HP7.2, but decided that we wanted to go home and have an Entourage Season 7 marathon instead. We watched the. WHOLE. THING. I have to agree with the reviews. Season 7 was not nearly as good as EVERY other season of Entourage. It was kind of depressing. I am really hoping that they end on a lighter happier note with Season 8 a.k.a. The end of the show. I will definitely miss the guys when they are gone. Johnny Drama and Ari Gold = fabulous comedic entertainment.

Do you ever watch an entire season of a TV show in one sitting?
Dexter, Entourage, and True Blood. Every Time.

Birthday success

Last nights workout:
Ran on Betty for 3 miles in 33:04 (11:01 pace)

Hubs worked out right beside me on our new recumbent bike! I got it for him for his birthday. He has wanted one for a long time. It makes working out so much more fun having a buddy! 🙂

After spending ALL week preparing, Friday finally came and we had a very successful birthday party for Hubba. I got off work a little early and came right home to makes a couple appetizers and finish cleaning up. Before I knew it, everyone was here!

I laid out all the food on our island. It worked out perfectly. It gave everyone easy access to the goods.

Drinks immediately were opened. Wine for the girls and beer for the boys.

Fabulous friend T got hubs the set of beers above for the biggest samples o beer tasting ever. My favorite was the Panty Peeler. We may have to get that one again.

Once it got dark we fired up the chiminea and headed outside.

We roasted the most delicious s’mores ever. Mmmm I want another right now.

More drinks were consumed and we talked the night away. Before we knew it, it was getting really late. So, we sang happy birthday and called it a night.

I definitely drank too much. It all caught up to me all of a sudden after everyone left. So worth it though. It really was a fabulous night. It was the first time we had a party at our house. I definitely don’t think it will be the last.

Happy Birthday Hubs!

Today is hubs 25th birthday. What an old man. Quarter of a century! Haha

Time to get sappy…

You are the bestest friend I could ever ask for.

You are patient, kind, silly, motivated, and annoy the heck out of me. ALL of which are reasons why I love you.

Even though we are far away from family, I hope that I make this birthday the most special one ever for you. You deserve it.

Happy birthday sweet sweet hubs. Here’s to many many more quarter of centuries to come! 🙂

Surprise Ending

I had quite the surprise ending to my weekend.

On the way to the race, we hit a huge pothole. The roads seriously needs some TLC in SEA-Town. Upon inspection from my hubs, it looked like we were going to need new tires. It was about time to get them anyways. The pothole just hurried the process along.

On the way home from the race, hubs said that we should go to the car dealership to look at new cars. We had been wanting to get me a new car for a long time and I knew exactly what I wanted. So, instead of dropping a couple grand on tires, we decided to put that towards a down payment.

We called the dealership, they had the car I wanted, so we went down and bought it. Easiest car shopping trip of my life.

Please welcome my new baby into the world.

It’s a 2011 Ford Explorer with all the fixins to be the perfect mama mobile in a couple years. Ahhh I am seriously in love!

You can customize the lights on the inside, so of course I chose pink.

The whole thing is a nerds dream! There are SO many gadgets that I still have to figure out! They have completely revamped the explorer with My Ford Touch on the inside and a whole new body on the outside.

It was sad trading in my other car. It was a beautiful, fast, fun, sporty car. I had many fun times passing people on the freeway while saying ‘Vroom vroom!’ It was definitely time to get back into a bigger car, though. I couldn’t be more thrilled with my new toy.
