Five for Friday

1. Damn, Seattle is beautiful right now. I have been scoring some amazing pics lately on my workouts! On Wednesday night, Cousie D and I walked a solid 6.2 miles along Alki. Favorite pic of the night?

Gahhh! Someone pinch me! I can’t believe this is real life.

2. Last night I got home at about 6, put dinner together quickly and had enough time to go for a run OUTSIDE before it got dark! I decided to make it a pond track party. I m pretty sure, I have never seen a more gorgeous 1/4 mile loop.

3. I have been LOVING the 400s lately, so I did 400s around the pond. I was so excited because I did several of my 400s at about an 8:30 pace, which is pretty unheard of for me. My lungs and legs were on fire!

My run was made more enjoyable by the kid with the short temper who’s car wouldn’t start. Every time he would try to start the car but it wouldn’t turn over, he would let out the most giant sting of expletives at the top of his lungs. People watching… One of the best pastimes ever.

4. After PTP (Pond Track Party), I planned a long run on Saturday with a new friend, Erin, that I got to meet at Miles and Margs last Saturday! Oh, the powers of social media. I am so incredibly excited to have someone to run the last 6 of my 11 mile run with. It is going to fly by!

5. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mama’s out there. You are all beautiful, amazing, inspiring people just by being you. Virtual flowers for all of you!!

Lucky

I have been avoiding recapping my Labor Day weekend simply because I don’t want to admit that it is over.

My MIL and FIL flew in for a long weekend visit. Boy, I sure am lucky because I honestly look forward to every chance we get to spend time with them. They are such fantastic people, and I am NOT just saying that because my MIL reads my blog. πŸ˜‰

As most of you may already know, they are the people that got me started with running over two years ago. Before then, I wanted absolutely nothing to do with it. Now, running is such a major blessing in my life. It is my release, my passion, my me-time. It is the reason I have met so many fantastic people out here in Seattle. I am so incredibly thankful that they told me ‘yes, you can’ when all I could think of was ‘no, I can’t.’ Ok, swear I’m done being a total sap.

Anyways, whenever my inlaws and I are reunited I get SUPER excited to have my running buddy back. And run, we did.

We ran 4 beautiful Alki miles one day and 6 gorgeous Downtown Waterfront miles the next. I got to show off some amazing views like this:

And this:

Those were some of the best miles I have felt in a long time. Serious runners high. I’m tellin ya, there is nothing like it.

We did do other things besides run. We drank coffee that was way too pretty to be consumed:

We took a $1 beer tour at Red Hook Brewery:

And we got to spend some serious quality time shopping with Cousie D and Aunt Do. Pictures of my damage to come in a different post.

We ate, we laughed, we ate some more. Overall, it was one of the best weekends we have had in a long time. It was really hard to see them go, but it just makes me super excited for the next time we get to see them. It always gives us something to look forward to. πŸ™‚

What did you do this Labor Day weekend? What is one thing that makes you lucky?
