The Opposite of what I had planned

Wow, I did not do ANYTHING this weekend that I had planned to do. And you know what?! That is quite alright.

Friday night, I went out with my work team for happy hour to kick off the weekend right. Afterwards, I headed home (don’t worry, I was more than okay to drive) for pizza and movies and Bud Light Lime just like every Friday night. Hubs ended up having to work super late and didn’t get home until Friday night was over. Ritual bust.

I did, however, catch up on all my trashy shows he won’t watch with me. That means it was a success.

Saturday night, we were supposed to go to hubs work holiday party. We went out to dinner at Circa, a fabulous mom and pop restaurant, and had a delicious meal. We started with sweet potato fries as an appetizer.

I ordered the BBQ Chicken Salad. Holy yum. It was fantastic. I did not get a picture of it. But my belly was quite pleased with my decision.

During dinner, hubs got a text from him co-worker and he needed some help. Translation: no holiday party for us. The good news is, we were able to have our Friday night ritual (minus the pizza) on Saturday night. Hubs was able to watch movies while he helped his coworker. We watched 50/50 and Rango. Loved 50/50. I definitely got teary but I thought it was great. I ❤ Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I can’t tell you how Rango was because I pulled a ‘My Mother’ and fell asleep on the couch while watching it. From what I saw, it was mildly entertaining. But, clearly not entertaining enough to keep me awake.

Sunday, I made a delish breakfast of eggs and cheese on an English muffin and some fab coffee. For some reason the coffee seriously hit the spot. We lounged around. I read some. I did laundry. Then I lounged some more. Then I decided to get off my ass and work out.

Ladies and gents… I ran my 2nd ever run with my avg pace in the 9’s. 2.02 miles in 20:02. (9:55 pace) And that includes a 2:00 warm up of walking and jogging. My legs were very comfortable at this pace. I felt like I could just keep going and going. Well, that was until I decided to push it harder. I think I finished at a 7.5mph pace. My lungs felt like they were going to collapse on me! Haha Great run though. I followed that up with a solid 12 miles on the bike in 46:54.

I have quite the setup on our bike. I was thoroughly entertained the whole time.

That was my weekend in a nutshell. Definitely not what I had planned, but it was quite fantastic if I do say so myself.

Does it bother you when plans change at the last minute?

Do you fall asleep when watching movies at home?

First Race of 2012

Last nights workout:

2.78 miles in 29:00 (included 4 minute walk/jog warm up)
.14 mile cooldown 2:00

I was talking to my fab MIL the other day about running (she is the one who motivated me to start running in the first place). She mentioned that I should try intervals or fartleks on top of what I am already doing so that I don’t get bored with it. I totally agree. There is nothing boring about the word fartleks. I could fartlek all day long. I could fartlek in my sleep even. Okay, I am done being 10 years old. Fartlek.

I decided to do some sort of form of intervals tonight. I will call them ladder intervals. I have no idea if that is a real thing or not, but it works for me. My workout looked like this.

Warm up 4 minutes (walk/jog)
Run 1 minute fast (6.5-6.7 mph)
Walk/jog 1 minute
Run 2 minutes fast (6.5-6.7 mph)
Walk/jog 2 minutes
Run 3 minutes fast (6.5-6.7 mph)
Walk/jog 3 minutes
Run 4 minutes fast (6.5-6.7 mph)
Walk/jog 4 minutes
Run 5 minutes really fast (6.7-7.2 mph)
Cooldown 2 minutes

Total of 2.78 miles in 29:00 (not including cooldown)

That last 5 minute fast run was brutal. I want to eventually be able to work my way back down the interval ladder, but 2.78 miles is much further than the 1.29 I have been running. I will take it!!

In other news… I HAVE OFFICIALLY REGISTERED FOR MY FIRST RACE OF 2012. ANNNNND it just so happens to be in 2 weeks.

Valentines Day Dash

No, I don’t think I will totally be in 5k shape by the time the race comes, but I don’t really care. There will be plenty of other opportunities to PR this year. It will be fun no matter what. There are a bunch of Seattle peeps running it! I can’t wait to meet them IRL.

Let me know if you are running it! You can still register peeps!!!!

This weekend should be pretty fun! We have hubs company holiday party on Saturday. Yes, they are late to the game with the holiday party. Better late than never! I am super excited for it. I plan on getting some solid workouts in this weekend too. Oh, ANDDD I would ideally like to finish the Pretty Little Liars series too.

I think hubs and I are getting 50/50 from Netflix too. I am so excited to watch this movie. I have heard great things about it.

What is the most recent movie you have watched?

Have a great weekend peeps!!! 🙂

Carriers and Jets and Views, oh my!

Things are certainly happenin in Seattle this weekend! This week and this weekend is Seafair in Seattle!! It has been busyyy downtown and on the roads.

If you aren’t familiar with Seafair (I certainly wasn’t), it is an annual event that brings the whole city out for ship tours, hydroplaning races, and the blue angels!! The blue angels are my favorite. They would make an appearance in San Diego every year too!

This was taken from my work! This is pretty much my view every day. It sucks, I know. My coworker actually took this picture. By pure luck, he was able to catch the jet in the picture along with the carrier. Seriously impressive.

I’m not sure what hubs and I are going to do this weekend. I kinda want to go watch the blue angels and the races, but I kinda hate big crowds. I know that’s all it’s gonna be too. But… With weather like this, it’s hard to turn down being outside.

Have I mentioned how much I love living here?! I swear I will never get tired of seeing views like this:

And this:

Amazing. I am so lucky.

Other than that, hubs and I plan on spending some much needed quality time together. We have been so busy lately that we haven’t had much time for just us. I am thinking we need a movie date night.

What are you guys doing this weekend?

Happy Friday blog world!
